Vania Da Rui and Will Penny in the most elaborate crowdsourced arts project in history. Presented at 2011 Sundance Festival and distribute by National Geographic on July 24, 2011.

On July 24, 2010, Ridley Scott as executive producer and Oscar-winning director Kevin Mac Donald asked thousands of people, everywhere in the world, on a single day...to film some aspect of their day and then post that material onto YouTube to be part of a very challenging project called "Life in a Day". A historic cinematic experiment to create an unique documentary film about a single day on earth, a record of what it's like to be alive on that one day.

Filmmakers and skydivers Vania Da Rui and Will Penny decided they wanted to be part of it. Using a wonderful blue sky full of white clouds as background, Vania and Will jumped out of a plane at 14,000 feet and flew through their favorite playground: the sky. "I wished thousand of people that dream to fly could actually see the beauty of being free in a space without any boundaries and maybe make them to want to feel the air on their own skin" said Ms Da Rui. While Will Penny comments "I'm happy we could capture a very special moment and share it with the rest of the world".

Since then, Macdonald and a team of editors wading through 81,000 submissions from 192 different countries to achieve one goal: whittled down over 4,500 hours of footage into a 90-minute film that gives an honest and inspiring glimpse of our world through a powerful collage of scenes. So, after many hours of s-elections, Vania and Will's footage has been s-elected as the most impressive ones: "The movie also showcases thrilling innovations: one skydiver videoing another thousands of feet above the earth, an acrobat cam (Will Penny) on a fearless young girl (Vania Da Rui), a diver's eye view of an approaching pool from the highest platform".

"Life in a Day" was presented to the public in to the world premiere live from the 2011 Sundance Film Festival (President and Founder Robert Redford) on January 27th in Park City (Utah), where the movie was reviewed as an incredible way to show people what a wonderful world we live in.

National Geographic has acquired the rights to distribute the film in the United States, and that it will be coming to movie theaters this summer on July 24, 2011 (one year to the day after the footage in the movie was shot). Upon its release, the film will also be available for free on YouTube.

"If you don't watch it, you can't have a fair idea of the brilliance behind this film's editing".
