After the awesome 5D wing suit camp, it twas time to move to the next «fun skydiving point»… the FUNNY FARM !!!
Our little european crew has been taken care incredibly good by the Aussies: going from «Toogs» to Byron Bay in the Skydive Shop limo (for real! thanx again Joe and Roger!!), spent 3 days on the beach before going to the farm with Roger’s cessna…! AWESOME !
The «Funny Farm» is a boogie that has been created some years ago by Roger Mulckey (an Australian freeflyer, swooper and DZ operator) for him and his friends to have fun skydiving on a private DZ, far away from anything. It takes place on Roger’s familly land: thousands of acres of fields about an hour away from the fist little town! Roger and his friends built the minimum to hold a boogie : runway, nice and flat landing area, manifest, bar, toilets and showers, and a nice field with trees to put some tents or vans for the 7 days of the event. The «cherry on top»: a huge swoop pond perfectly made with smooth sides so everyone who doesn’t mind beeing wet can swoop as hard as they want!
So it was a FreeFly boogie, invitational, with a very fast cessna caravan from Sydney and a cresco. Around 75 freeflyers and some staff so around 100 people total together on the DZ for a week! The best freeflyers of australia were there so we have been able to organize some super nice skydives. The load organizers Fred, Vince and Havard Flaat have been focusing mainly on angle flying, moving, tracing, for all levels and as fast as possible! And lots of crazy swoops!! every night was the editing of the videos of the day (thanx Elad!) and a fun party!
Loads of happy people, safety well maintained by the DZ Safety Officer Robby McMillan but also all the skydivers that have well behaved. What can we say more… the funny farm isn’t just a boogie, it’s a life experience… such a good time and good jumps with such cool people was just…WOW !!! It was THE farm….
A big thanks to Roger, his family and all the friends for organizing, thanx to the staff and to all the flyers! We want more!!
